HometownLife.com reports officials in Michigan’s Northville Township invited representatives from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to explain the rampant odors emanating from the Arbor Hills landfill to affected residents. Residents have been voicing their concerns about health problems, both short-term and long-term. Some residents have complained of currently suffering from headaches and nausea, to which the DEQ was not surprised. However, residents were assured that the odors are carcinogen-free and do not lead to any long-term illnesses. Although residents were given assurance that the DEQ and the federal Environmental Protection Agency are working to stop the odors, residents remain concerned about the current state and proposed expansion of the Arbor Hills landfill.
