GoDanRiver.com reports more than 100 people attended a public meeting on April 20, 2016, with officials from First Piedmont Waste Solutions to discuss concerns about odors coming from the landfill that are affecting the use and enjoyment of their property. According to resident Julie Griffin, the odor is so bad that she and her husband cannot have a cookout or invite friends over. Resident Janice Ingram says, regarding the odors, “[i]t gets into your clothes, it gets into your furniture.” Ben Davenport, the chairman of Davenport Energy and First Piedmont Corp. has admitted to the odor problem.
