We previously blogged that students and staff at Cortland Elementary School were sickened by odors that came from the Waste Management Landfill and were caught in the ventilation system at the school. The medical complaints were headaches, nausea and vomiting. The IEPA has not yet determined which gas sickened students, but did find that Waste Management, the owner and operator of the landfill, violated state law. The Illinois Attorney General's Office has not determined what enforcement action will be done. Kate Dahlstrom, IEPA Releases Report on Cortland Landfill Incident, Daily Chronicle, Jan. 23, 2014.
