The Contra Costa Times reports that more than 600 complaints regarding foul odors coming from the Sunshine Canyon Landfill were logged in 2010, compared to less than 50 in 2008. This year alone, 676 complaints have been logged with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Landfill operators and local environmental officials have yet to discover the source of the stench. However, the Air Quality Management District has issued 15 violations against the operators of the landfill so far this year.

Wayde Hunter, the president of the North Valley Coalition, a local non-profit activist organization wants to know "how much is enough for this community." The landfill is located 2 miles from Van Gogh Elementary School, where children, parents and teachers are complaining of odors.

While I do not currently represent anyone at this site, I do represent hundreds of similarly situated people around the country in various landfill and environmental litigation. To find out if The Simon Law Firm can help with an environmental lawsuit, contact environmental attorney Todd Hageman.
