Complaint filed with Illinois Pollution Control Board regarding Murdock Mine near Newman, Illinois

The News-Gazette is reporting that Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed a complaint with the Illinois Pollution Control Board accusing Alpena Vision Resources of polluting the air and water near the Murdock Mine by improperly disposing waste in the mine. Residents living near the mine have been complaining of odors, and are afraid to drink their water. Included in what is being dumped into the mine is coal ash and human sewage waste. Prairie Rivers Network, a non-profit organization that works to protect Illinois' rivers, has been advocating for residents and pushing state agencies to enforce regulations.

While I do not currently represent anyone at this site, I do represent hundreds of similarly situated people around the country in various odor nuisance and environmental litigation.
