BP knew of problems before the blast

As you know from the news, on April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded, killing 11 people. Ever since then, 200,000 gallons of oil per day have been pouring out of the well that the rig was drilling. We previously blogged that along with the obvious problems the oil spill is causing in destruction of wildlife, according to recent air monitoring data published by the EPA, Hydrogen Sulfide has been measured as high as 1107 ppb over a one hour average. That is well above the human odor threshold.

According to CNN, executives from BP, Transocean and Halliburton have been meeting with the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee and have been essentially blaming each other for the spill. CNNMoney has also reported BP had told the committee privately that the well failed a key pressure test just hours before it exploded on April 20, but operations were not suspended.
