WasteDIVE.com reports proposed Michigan House Bill 4783, will nearly double landfill operators’ fines for illegal odors, with first violations increasing to $20,000, and $40,000 for the second violation. State Representative Al Pscholka drafted the bill after seeing his constituents suffering for years from noxious odors coming from the Orchard Hill Landfill in Coloma, Mich. We previously blogged about Rep. Pscholka meeting with residents to update them on the situation back in September, 2014. HB 4783 received strong bipartisan support in its passage, and is now pending Senate review.
