Tool manufacturer American International Tool Industries, Inc. and the project's general contractor settle with injured painter for $2 million over problems with American International Tool Industries' Paint Shaver Pro paint-scraping machine. The plaintiff, a house painter, leaned out from a 24-foot ladder to use the Paint Shaver Pro, which required the application of pressure to remove paint from the wall. The man fell, injuring his spinal cord, which resulted in paraplegia. The plaintiff sued the manufacturer and the general contractor alleging failure to warn of the danger of using the paint scraper at elevated heights.
