CBS 13 Sacramento is reporting that neighbors of a Stockton, California landfill that is looking to expand are voicing their opposition to the proposal. Residents report that the tap water in the area has an odd smell to it, and many use bottled water for their drinking and cooking needs. In fact, that bottled water has been provided to residents for decades because the groundwater is unsafe due to gases from the landfill that have leaked. As the landfill continues with plans to expand its operations, the nearby airport is opposing it as well, claiming that the trash attracts gulls and other birds that make it dangerous for pilots in the area. Many residents are now joining together and plan to attend the landfill's meeting about the expansion to voice their opposition.
