On January 20, 2010 we blogged that Kansas state environmental regulators, who had previously pushed for the landfill's closure, are now wanting to keep the landfill open and possibly expand it. Over 6000 residents live near the landfill and have complained about stinky odors of rotten eggs.
WIBW-TV has reported that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will hold two public meetings regarding its intentions to keep the landfill open. The first meeting will be on January 21, and second on February 11. APAC-Kansas, Inc..
