We previously blogged about this landfill. The landfill, which is privately owned, and operated by Republic Services, has been fined by the DHEC for not properly covering the landfill. The violations have been continuing, and there have been subsurface fires, resulting in odors throughout the community.
According to The Item, there will be a public meeting on Tuesday, December 1, where the DHEC will report on what has been done to the landfill since the last community meeting in March, and the public will be invited ask questions. At the last meeting, over 140 residents attended.
We will keep an eye on this for developments. While I do not represent anyone associated with this case, I do represent hundreds of similarly situated people around the country in environmental litigation cases.
