Mercury News reports that Guadalupe Rubbish Disposal landfill released a byproduct of methane gas into a creek that runs through the Almaden Quicksilver County Park in South San Jose, California. Park officials closed the affected part of the park because they do not know if the product is hazardous to animals or humans, and because rangers smelled a "noxious, strong odor."
