A jury awarded a gross verdict of $8.8 million to a young woman who was injured while using a augur attached to a Ford New Holland Model 906. She sued New Holland, SMC Corp., and Niagara Frontier Equipment Sales alleging that the warning labels and protective device designed to guard against protruding bolts were inadequate. Her clothes were snagged by a bolt, resulting in catastrophic injury to her right arm, along with fractures of her clavicle and scapula. Her arm was ultimately amputated above the elbow.
