A jury recently returned a verdict of $550,000 in favor of a man who was injured while operating an industrial scale manufactured by St. Louis Scale. He alleged that the scale lacked an industry standard safety guard. The scale operator was injured when straps on a seed bag broke as it was being lifted. He suffered broken bones, nerve and tendon damage, and a severed artery. He lost most of the use of his right hand and arm.
