The California Department of Public Health, in a partnership with the US Department of Health and Human Services, produced an ATSDR report on their investigation of hydrogen sulfide odor complaints in Calexico, Imperial County, California. Residents have been complaining of the "rotten egg" odors, and of the common health effects associated with those odors, including headaches, nausea and irritated eyes. Investigation has ruled out that the source of the odors is the New River. Additional testing is being conducted to determine the source.
