The Insurance Journal reports that the U.S. government has banned handheld texting by drivers of large commercial trucks and buses to elude the danger of distracted driving. The new law went into effect on January 26th. The National Safety Council, a research and advocacy group, estimates that 200,000 collisions of many types on U.S. roads are triggered by drivers who are texting.

If you suspect that a trucking accident in which you or a loved one was involved was caused by handheld texting, you may have a personal injury claim.
