The Record Journal reports that testing done at an area landfill show that vinyl chloride may be contaminating the air around homes and businesses. Vinyl chloride has been linked to various liver ailments and nerve damage if breathed for long periods of time.
The area is a superfund site. State and EPA officials are planning on installing an impermeable lining.
