MedPageToday reports that the new director of the FDA, Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D., announced the formation of a task force to increase transparency and get information to consumers quickly. The agency’s deputy commissioner, Joshua M. Sharfstein, M.D., will chair the task force, which will hold a public meeting on June 24, and a second meeting in the Fall. The agency will also accept public comments until August 7. Dr. Hamburg expects the task force to make recommendations within six months.

We represent over 350 clients in lawsuits against the manufacturer of Vioxx, Merck & Co., Inc.
