One thing we notice in many cases of environmental contamination, is that it tends to happen near lower income communities, where people are less likely to be heard if they complain. City and county officials tend to ignore them because they don’t have the tax base that middle and upper class neighborhoods would have.

We were interested to see that the EPA announced on January 15, 2009 that it is requesting public input to assess the potential impact of hazardous waste recycling on low-income, minority and tribal populations.
