Last month, we blogged that Mass DEP had imposed a $23,000 fine to Interstate Waste Services, which is the owner and operator of the South Hadley Landfill in South Hadley Massachusetts. Gazettenet.com is now reporting that for the second time in a little more than a month, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has imposed an additional fine of $20,693.00 to Interstate Waste Services for failure to keep the odors out of the surrounding neighborhoods. According to The Republican, the Director of Operations for the landfill, Thomas Fields, was laid off after the fines were imposed.
We currently represent individuals in South Hadley in a potential nuisance claim against the South Hadley Landfill. Further, we currently represent hundreds of similarly situated people across the country, including many families in Newburyport, Massachusetts in a lawsuit against the owners of the Crow Lane Landfill.
