We previously blogged that the Ohio Attorney General had filed a lawsuit against the owners of the A&E Landfill in Lisbon, Ohio, requesting the Court to order A&L Salvage to cover the landfill waste with a foot of soil within the next 6 weeks, and the Court will be hearing the request for a preliminary injunction on April 1.
The Review is now reporting that defendants have filed their response to the lawsuit and while they disagree with the recommendations for abating the odors, they do admit that the odors are there.
There have been numerous complaints about the rotten egg odors of the toxin hydrogen sulfide coming from improperly maintained dumping for years. In February, the EPA had started an investigation into the odors and the potential for a landfill file.
We are watching this situation closely. While we do not represent anyone who lives near the A&L Salvage landfill site, we represent hundreds of similarly situated people in the United States in various landfill pollution litigation.
