Pensacola News-Journal reports that Escambia County sent the Rolling Hills Construction and Demolition Landfill an odor violation notice on June 17, while the state has been citing the landfill for groundwater violations for years. Residents in the Wedgewood neighborhood have been complaining of odors for years, and feel that the odors have damaged the neighborhood's quality of life.

At a recent Commission meeting, the County Commissioners vowed to address the residents' complaints. While the County can bring administrative action against the landfill, it will not compensate residents for the loss of use and enjoyment of their properties.
